I had that dream again. I was in a small cottage with two other figures, though I was just a child. There was a sudden explosion; when the first figure threw the other and I out the window. That’s always when I end up waking up. It makes me wonder.
I walked down the dirt path towards the academy, alone. Though my eyes were shut, I could feel eyes on me from the lone person that I passed at times. My hands jammed in my pockets, I approached the front door. I slid it open and all conversation stopped, eyes and heads turned and whispering began. My normally blue hair began to change in colour to a bright, alarming red. Many people screamed at the sight, others yelled out things like 'Whoa!' or 'Cool!' which made me smirk.
My eyes still shut, I heard Iruka’s voice say "Maya. I need to talk to you for a second, do you mind?" I raised my head slightly and opened one eye as to inspect him. I shrugged and walked back out the door. I stood out in the hallway with my hands jammed in my pockets as I listened to the teacher drone on about how a sensei had finally decided to accept me into a squad. He finally handed me my headband which I tied around my neck and I looked up at his face fully for the first time. "You'll be joining squad seven, taking the place of Tenten, who is in Stella's squad now. She refused to work with you..." he said, blushing slightly as he rubbed the back of his neck. The single scar on my shoulder began to throb as he said that name... Stella... "They are out training in the forest behind the academy. Go join them. And congratulations." He then returned to his class. I smiled to myself for the first time in a while as I dashed to the training grounds out back.
I saw a light appear at the end of the tunnel of trees. I jumped with a rustle of leaves into the clearing below, landing beside a tall boy with long brown hair and white eyes. He looked down at me when I appeared. The tall boy with a bowl cut hairdo and huge eyebrows nearly had a heart attack at her random appearance. "Ah, there she is," said my new sensei, Kakashi, "welcome to squad seven, Maya. The boy beside you is Hyuga, Neji. And beside him is Rock Lee. I turned to look at them, and nodded my head in acknowledgment. "Now, for your assignment." Kakashi smiled. Then he looked down a bare path as if waiting; but for what?
